Cumbria Creative Retreat

September 23rd-29th 2026

Join us for Autumn Equinox Creative Retreat at Howdy Glampsite in Cumbria, with sprawling views of the Eden Valley. Our retreats are about creating together in nature, broadening our understanding of the world around us, and of course learning how to tread lightly on the planet. Switch off in nature, meet new people and enjoy nature-based workshops. Come as you are, come and go as you please!

We’ll be welcoming in the duality of the equinox, bringing equal parts day and night, occurring on September 22nd. Followed by the Harvest Full Moon on Saturday the 26th. Our workshops will reflect the astronomical changing of seasons, the flora and fauna surrounding this time of year and the lore behind a magical full moon.

Workshops at our Creative Retreat in Cumbria

To get your creative juices flowing, we have a variety of sessions planned for our creative retreat in Cumbria. A scrapbooking session where you can create your own artwork from maps, nature magazines and literary articles collected over the years. Scrapbooking will be available throughout the whole retreat so you are welcome to keep progressing your art during your stay.

Howdy owner, Andri Thwaites has created a Sauna and Dip Spot available for us to use together, and to also book privately if you wish (additional fee). Andri will also be hosting a Clay Sculpture workshop in the Pottin’ Shed, where you can try your hand at sculpting with clay, these sessions change each retreat so ensure everyone tries something new!

Our friend Holly Marshgreen is returning to host a session on Forest Bathing. A true chance to connect with nature, reduce cognitive overload and enhance your creativity. Previous Forest Bathing sessions hosted by each of our creative retreats have included meditations, aromatherapy, barefoot walking, nature mandala making, and learning about the science behind the power of trees. Each session Holly hosts is totally unique to each retreat, taking in the surroundings of the site and utilising the natural spaces to clear our minds and come back to ourselves. Learn more about Holly on her instagram.

Co-host Caleb East will also be sharing a workshop on Nature Connectedness, where we’ll discuss what Nature Connection is, why nature connection is important, pathways to nature connection, and more. This session has been a staple workshop at our retreats, to bring forth conversations on how we can spend time with nature. No matter how little or long. Following the discussion, a nature-based activity will take place to further connect with nature.

For those of you who enjoy cold water immersion or for those who want to try it out, we’ll also head out to a local swim spot for an optional cold dipping session. These are just a few of the sessions we’re excited to offer at our Creative Retreat in Cumbria this September, with more workshops to be confirmed.

All guests are invited to share their craft with the group if they’d like to! Whether you’ve hosted before or want to try something new, this is an open space for creativity. If you would like to host your own workshop, please get in touch.
